The 37th FIPP World Magazine Congress, the world's largest international magazine conference and exhibition, will bring together global leaders from the magazine and communications industry in London in May 2009. AND are delighted to have been appointed to create the branding for this major event incorporating a logo and the design and development of promotional literature, advertising and event invitations. The project will culminate in a significant congress programme that, with the combination of iconic design and innovative print processes, will reflect the theme for the congress - 'The Magic of Magazines'.

On Friday June 20 AND locked up the studio and headed off to Paris for a well-earned away day. No team building exercises, no brainstorming or Myers Briggs tests, just a good old field trip, lunch and some sight seeing. To celebrate everyone's hard work over the past year and a couple of new business wins was a good enough excuse and all being well this may have started a trend...

As part of an ongoing evolution of August Equity's online presence, this week we have launched a new look website with additional functionality and improved navigation. Enhanced by original commissioned illustration we have added specialised sector areas with downloadable fact sheets and with the use of new typography and imagery have given the whole site a visual refresh. Take a look at www.augustequity.com.

As well as the great news that AND were appointed for a third term as the General Teaching Council's brand and design agency, we are very pleased to have also been commissioned to design their new website which will be launching later this year. Working with web development agency, Kainos, the new site will provide an extensive range of information and services for the country's teaching community as well as for parents and employers.

This exciting concept is the result of a collaboration between creative agency, AND, and business consultancy, Carrot Advisory.
Reality in Branding takes companies through a four-stage branding process, from Vision, Mission and Values, through Audience Definition and Message Development, to Visual Identity and Brand Implementation.
Richard Houghton, CEO, Carrot Advisory comments: “It’s widely acknowledged in the business world the positive impact a strong brand can have on a company, such as being able to charge a premium for products and services; increased sales and customer loyalty, and an increase in the overall value of the business. The problem for SMEs is that the costs associated with branding often fall outside of their budgets. Also, branding is traditionally a protracted process which takes up a lot of internal resources to co-ordinate.
“Reality in Branding has the needs of SMEs at its core. It distils the core principles of branding and packages them in a way that is accessible to SMEs, both in terms of cost and time – we can create a new brand in weeks rather than months.”

We have worked with Logica since 2002 when we were responsible for the logo and new identity guidelines when Logica merged with Dutch firm CMG. Recently the Board decided to drop the CMG part of the name and revert to Logica. On winning a three way pitch, we have re-crafted the logo typography to a more contemporary take on the original Logica logo and updated all guidelines and templates for global use.
